Speed and Strength
These run sessions are based on 6 weekly cycles, they will focus on strength and speed work and will change as we progress through the winter with the goal being to prep you well for the next season. The sessions are approx. 1 hour and are typically short effort bursts (1 to 3 min.) on the flatish or hills or an old favourite 2×20 min efforts. We usually have a chat afterwards. This year will be in the ski club with tea and cake.

Content : These sessions follow on from the winter WindTrainer sessions. They will different each week but basically there will be a wind trainer element and a run element, we will swap distances and order (but usually bike will be first). These will be great sesions to get your legs and rest of your body prepared for Tri and duathlon as the season looms.
Where : Blue Lake. We have the ski clubrooms as a back up in case of rain.
When : TBC. During summer only.
Cost : $30.00 for members and $50 for non members for the 10 week block or $5.00 per session member & $7.00 per non member.

The mini tri’s are done until November. Watch this space and the weekly emails for updates.
Content : These sessions are not designed to be intense competitions, they are you to get used to the trials and tribulations of tri before your first proper races. Time for you to try out that new strategy, new kit, new nutrition, new bike shoes, position of tri bars……… whatever this is the time to make mistakes so you are over them and so you are finely tuned for your big day! Distances will vary and you can vary your distances depending on your individual needs. Use the session for what you need to get out of it or go with the distances I choose for the day. Training transition ie the grass will be manned so no worries about stuff going missing and times will attempt to be given as accurately as possible.
Where : Blue Lake
When : Saturday Mornings 9am
Dates: TBA later in the year
Dates will be confirmed in the weekly email.
Cost : Free for RATS member $5 for non members
During winter time

or upfront payment for 10 weeks – $30/10 weeks for RATs members, $50/10 weeks for non-members
Option 2 is not a 10 session payment, but for 10 weeks – means, we run this payment twice over the winter, if you miss out on a session, its gone and you can’t carry it over to the second block of 10 weeks.
Bring: Your bike and a trainer plus 2 towels one for under your trainer and one for the top tube, a third will come in handy depending on how much of a sweaty pants you are.
If you have a heart rate monitor that’d also be useful.
The session will not be your normal hammer / Les mills type spin class. The sessions will be focused towards learning how to make the most of your cycling and over the course of the classes we will go over everything from intensity zones, bike set up, aerodynamics etc. You’ll get a ‘good workout’ too but we want all you lovely RATS to be the best you can be, that’s why we have the coached sessions… “we’re here to help…”

A well established Ride – many tales to tell, many coffees drunk….this Bunch ride normally takes about 2 hours. It is a good steady ride allowing people to catch up on all the latest gossip, get some training in, enjoy the scenery and just have fun on a bike. Some amount of fitness is advised, you should be able to comfortably cycle for 2 hours but nobody will be dropped and the pace is set by the slowest rider.
