RATs Summer Aquathon Series at the Blue Lake.

The first race of the season went off well with a great Christmas celebration at the Waterski club - thanks to the organizers Jess, Lesley, Clay and Sarah! The next lot of race dates are as follows:

Monday 19th January 2009
Monday 2nd February 2009
Monday 16th February 2009

Race details:
Blue Lake, car park opposite of camping ground
500mish swim, 5.5km run around the Lake - there is also a 200m swim option in shallow water!

Rego from 5.45pm
Race start 6.30pm

Cost: free for RATs members, $2 non-members

The date for our club champs is set, Friday, 3rd April 2009 - almost every weekend is busy with something, so we decided to run the event as an after work blow out at the end of the season!!!

Racing is happening at the south-est of Blue Lake for a change - that's the lookout side...and we have both, a Triathlon and a Multisport option!

Swim is 750m, Kayak 3km, followed by a nice transition run up the steps to the transition area in the Blue and Green Lake lookout carpark - the road ride will be a 2 laper down Tarawera Road to the Landing Cafe and back - yes, there is a hill or two in it, but hey, it's only 20k's long! Back to transition and out to a well known lap around the Blue Lake!

Racing will start at 5pm, so make sure you get lots of work done during that week so that you can knock off early! Entry price is still to be confirmed, but we'll keep it as cheap as possible...after the race we'll have a bit of a get together at the Waterski Clubhouse with drinks and food!

For all of those who don't want to do the whole race - you can enter in a team if you want...and for all of those who don't want to do the race - I need volunteers :-)

RATS Winter Duathlon Series

RACE 1: SUNDAY, 7th JUNE

RACE 2: SUNDAY, 5th JULY

RACE 3: SUNDAY 2ND AUGUST

WHERE: WAIPA MTB CARPARK, ROTORUA

REGISTRATION: 8.30am to 9.30am

RACE START: 10am

SHORT COURSE (BEGINNERS): 3KM RUN- 8KM MTB- 1.5KM RUN

LONG COURSE: 4.5KM RUN- 15KM RIDE- 3KM RUN

Location & Course: The Duathlon Series is now held at the Waipa MTB Carpark, Rotorua (off SH5) Starts 10am. Run & MTB are off-road; the long course MTB includes single-track sections (Tickler & Sweet and Sour).

Note re Start Time: a small wee mistake has managed to sneak into the entry form we sent out - RACE START IS AT 10am and not 1pm!
