RATs & Red Stag Kids Duathlon - new date!!!!

Due to the weather conditions we had to postpone the Kids Duathlon on 22 June 08. To keep it out of unstable weather conditions and school holidays we decided to move it back to September. The new date for the race is Saturday, 27 September 2008, the perfect start into the school holidays! Course remains the same, please not the change in day (now SATURDAY) and STARTING time - 1pm, Registration from 11.30am to 12.45pm.
If you had entered the original Duathlon, you don't have to enter again, you are already on the entrance list and just have to show up on the day. If you cannot make the date and want your money refunded, please contact me on tha_kat@hotmail.com or call 021 648 640.
For out or towners...if you enter and wish to know if the race goes ahead, email me your contact details and I will give you a call in the morning of the race to confirm the start.

RATs & Red Stag Kids Offroad Duathlon

This is the RATs Winter Duathlon - only for kids! The course is targeted for primary and secondary school kids and we have two distances on offer:

Short course: 500 m run - 3km MTB - 500m run
500 m run - on grass area at Waipa MTB Park, 3km MTB - see map 'course 1' - 2 laps of the described course

Long course: 1.5km run - 8km MTB - 500m run
1.5km run - see map 'course 1', 1 lap of described course, 8km MTB - see map 'course 2' (old Winter Du short course bike), 500 m run - on grass area at Waipa MTB Park.

Race HQ is at Waipa MTB carpark, registration is from 11.30am to 12.45pm, the races start at 1pm. Entry is cheap, $5 per kid, no matter if RAT or not, and no late fee applies - please, if you enter on the day, come early to allow us time to process your entry! If you enter early, please fill out the entry form and send a cheque to the give address or use our great 'drop off facility' at Bike Vegas on Fenton Street - put the entry and money (cash or cheque) in an envelope and drop it off at the store with the friendly blokes! All entrants will receive a certificate after the race and spotprizes will be up for grabs too! Parents - ensure your kid knows the course and go out for a play with them beforehand! We will have coffee there to keep you waiting parents warm, so don't forget to bring some cash!

North Island Interclub Duathlon Champs
Good things come in three's - so, it's the third time that RATs are putting on the Annual North Island Interclub Duathlon Championships...must be good!!!

The event will run as in previous years, although start time is an hour earlier...

When: Saturday, 20th September 2008

Where: Waipa MTB Carpark, St Hwy 5, Rotorua

Distances: 4.5km offroad run–28km Road Ride–3km offroad run

Registration: 10.30am – 11.30pm

Race Start: 12 pm

Cost: $35pp

Course: Race HQ is located at the Waipa MTB carpark – the run will lead you into the great Whakarewarewa Forest and is all off – road. The undulating road ride is a two lap out and back from HQ south along 8 Mile Gate Rd. Race maps are available here: Interclub08BikeCourse.pdf and Interclub08RunCourse.pdf.

Awards Presentation: The North Island Interclub Champion chip awards will take place at the Lynmore Primary School (location details and maps available on race day) roughly 1hr after the last competitor has finished, hot showers will be provided, and yes, there will be food and drinks available (cash bar).

The Day After...RATs would like to invite all clubs to join us on our weekly Bunch ride on Sunday – great scenery, company and coffee stop guaranteed! If there is enough interest, we can also arrange a MTB ride, please send us a line if you would be keen, MTB can be hired at several bike shops in Rotorua (Bike Vegas, Outdoorsman and Planet Bike at Waipa MTB Carpark)!

Joe Public...is welcome along to join the race. Please note: you have to be affiliated with a North Island Triathlon club to be eligible for individual prizes and for your placing to count towards the cup points.

Clubs and individuals, please confirm entry of your competitors by 15th September 2007 by either submitting individual entry forms or a list of competitor names for clubs. Post entry forms to: RATs Interclub Duathlon PO Box 372 Rotorua, cheques made out to Rotorua Association of Triathletes and Multisporters.

Entries on the day…will be taken, but cost a fee of $10…so get in early…
