2010 Kids Offroad Duathlon
The RATs Offroad Kid’s Duathlon is back in it’s third year of running – book the date, it’s Tuesday 26th October 2010.
This offroad Duathlon is especially for our youngsters – primary and intermediate kids. For this year we have something new in store – an Inter-School Competition! Read more on the rules below…We have also changed the date to a Tuesday daytime during school terms – we hope this will encourage schools to include the Duathlon into their PE curriculum.
As in previous years, the race is happening at the Waipa MTB Carpark, with two distances on offer
Short Course : 500 m Run – 3 km MTB – 500 m Run
Long Course : 1.5 km Run – 8 km MTB – 500 m Run

The order of the event is as follows:
09.30am Registrations and Event Check-in
10.30am Race Briefing for all courses
10.45am Long Course
11.00am Short Course
12.00pm Certificates and Prize Giving
Interschool-Competition
Points will be awarded to school teams dependent on how many kids per school take part in the category and minor points will be awarded for finishing positions in the long/short course. Team categories are:
Primary Male, Primary Female, Intermediate Male and Intermediate Female
We are currently finalizing the scoring system and will update the website with the point system. A prize will be awarded to the winning school for either Primary or Intermediate level.
Teams - are allowed, it does not matter if they are made up of 2 or 3 kids or if they are of the same sex. Only have to be in same class category of either Primary or Intermediate.
Entry fee is $5 per kid, we will have plenty of spot prizes to give away and every kid will also receive a certificate after the race.
Schools - please collect the money from participating kids, you can then either email the entry list (Names, school year, long or short course) to info@rats.org.nz or drop entry forms at SCION reception, 49 Sala Street, Rotorua – Att. Katrin Walbert by Friday 22nd October 2010 the latest). If you email the participant lists, please bring money and filled out forms with you on the day (we can also invoice you if you prefer this option). We will take entries on the day.
