RAT IN A TRAP
We’re playing ’20 questions’ with our members…!
-
Name? Margaret Richardson - Age Group? Middle-aged
- Profession? Communications Advisor
- Favourite Cheese? The smellier and bluer the better
- Why do you do Triathlon/Multisport? Because I’m a masochist
- What is your most favourite event? Half marathon.
- What bike (bikes) do you ride and what would you REALLY like to ride? I used to hate riding until Jeff Anderson built me a road bike that actually fits. When I got my Jeffson I couldn’t believe how cool it felt. I have no ambition to ride anything else…ever. It’s the perfect bike.
- Out of the different disciplines, which is your most favourite and which one is the least favourite? My favourite and least favourite discipline is swimming. I really like swimming and love being in the water. But the minute I get out of my depth, I’m a basket case…I’ve never managed to overcome this fear. Triathlons only make me worse.
-
Are you coached or do you make up your own regime of punishment? I have a dog who makes me run a lot. - Who is an athlete you admire? The last swimmer out of the water in any given triathlon. That person is a real battler.
- Training, work, family – how do you fit it all in? I don’t…training usually loses.
- How long have you been a RAT and what do you like about the club? Two years. I like the club because it gave me a prize. I won’t mention what the prize was for, but getting prizes is always special.
- On a sunny day, what do you prefer – MTB or road bike? Road bike. MTBs always make me crash.
- How many ACC claims due to sport injuries? Too many to list. Would be a lot more if I took up MTB.
- Most favourite riding loop (MTB or Road)? Paradise Valley
- Most favourite run loop? Blue Lake – where else?
- What would you do with all your spare time and money if you wouldn’t train and race and spend all of your and your wife/husband/partner/families money on sports gear you really badly need? Get one of those giant flat-screen TVs.
- What event would you really like to do one day? Secretly…London 2012 synchronised swimming….need to get over my fear of water first.
- Do you think swimming should be turned into an optional discipline in triathlon? No way. Swimming adds depth to the whole challenge!
- Any suggestions for the club? Keep up the great work. Plodders like me need maniacs like you guys to cheer us on!
