RAT IN A TRAP

We’re playing ’20 questions’ with our members…!

  1. Andrew Name? Andrew Hiscoke
  2. Age Group? 30-34
  3. Profession? Architectural Draftsman & Designer.
  4. Favourite Cheese? Kikorangi Blue (one of my vices)
  5. Why do you do Triathlon/Multisport? I do triathlon because it is a great sport as I really love the challenge & I’m not particularly spectacular at one individual disciplines. Also a lot easier on the body than motorcross racing.
  6. What is your most favourite event? Any good Tri as long as you don’t hit the wall. Ironman NZ (especially the finishing chute of Ironman).
  7. What bike (bikes) do you ride and what would you REALLY like to ride? I ride an Avanti Team Chrono, Specialized Allez & Epic MTB. Would like to ride a Specialized Transition SWORKS.
  8. Out of the different disciplines, which is your most favourite and which one is the least favourite? Swimming is my least favourite, as it’s hard to make big gains once you have reached a certain level. Riding is my favourite as this is the discipline that brought me to the sport in the first place.
  9. Are you coached or do you make up your own regime of punishment? I am coached by a nasty little sadistic voice inside my head!!! No I am not coached other than Dale Cameron’ s whipping boy base training program (not sure who has the whip now though).
  10. Who is an athlete you admire? Cameron Brown, as he is a rock solid athlete who is so consistent at the top level, and with a family too!
  11. Training, work, family – how do you fit it all in? Really early starts for training and late nights working and an amazingly understanding wife, also running with Josh (son) in the mountain buggy (you feel like you fly when don’t run with it).
  12. How long have you been a RAT and what do you like about the club? Since 2005. The club has a great bunch of people where there are many different levels abilities and fitness. Have made some great friends through the club.
  13. AndrewOn a sunny day, what do you prefer – MTB or road bike? MTB for sure as long as no IM looming.
  14. How many ACC claims due to sport injuries? Only 2 in Triathlon, too many to count in previous Motocross career of 15 years.
  15. Most favourite riding loop (MTB or Road)? Road – Manawahae Matata loop (I’m sure its only 4.5 hrs isn’t it Kat). MTB – anything with Billy T, Pondy & Pondy New in it.
  16. Most favourite run loop? Full Black trail in Whaka forest, just because I love the variation of terrain. Least favourite bit is going to Waipa and returning through the Hemo Gorge to Home, seen that way too many times.
  17. What would you do with all your spare time and money if you wouldn’t train and race and spend all of your and your wife/husband/partner/families money on sports gear you really badly need?
Definitely Travel more. Follow and spectate the tour, Kona and finally get round to designing our house which I am meant to have done already.
  18. What event would you really like to do one day? Any overseas IM would be good if I am having a dream session.
  19. How are you going to survive without Dale? One day at a time at the moment, sob, sob…. What gives anyone any idea we trained a lot together?????
  20. Any suggestions for the club? Carry on doing what you have been doing, it’s a great club to be apart of!
